Katie Brinkmeyer joined Stewart Phelps and Wood in September of 2019, and heads their Social Security and Worker’s Compensation practice groups. Katie brings a plethora of experience to Stewart Phelps and Wood, including nine years as an attorney advisor at Social Security’s Office of Hearing Operations, and three years in private practice with David Stewart, where she cultivated the Social Security and Worker’s Compensation practice groups.
No matter where you are in the Social Security Process, Katie is there for you: whether you are waiting for a hearing, received an unfavorable decision from an Administrative Law Judge, or denied review by the Appeals Counsel. Too overwhelmed by the Social Security claims process to even file your initial application for benefits? Katie can help you file your initial application for benefits. She also assists clients with claims involving termination of benefits, continuing disability reviews (CDRs), age 18 re-determination, over-payments/technical denials, widow’s benefits, and disabled adult child (DAC) claims. No matter where you are in the process, Katie is here to help you every step of the way.
Katie understands that Social Security is a complicated, and lengthy process. Katie’s expertise has allowed her to develop a highly tactical and premeditated method, in which she attacks weaknesses in hearing level decisions that erroneously address or fail to address matters that warrant further review and appellate action.
Katie also works on a referral or co-counsel basis for attorneys and firms overloaded with Appeals Counsel and District Court work to help them meet the stringent filing deadlines. During her nine-year tenure at the agency, she developed refined writing skills by writing hundreds of hearing-level decisions and remands from the Appeals Counsel and District Court. She knows how to spot and attack the issues. Let Katie save you time and write your next winning brief.
