This past weekend, the cops in Ingalls, Indiana had their hands full with a two-car accident. The crash happened on Madison County Road new Indiana-9. The accident was so serious, one of the victims had to be flown to Methodist Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Nikolaus Jens-Uwe McCraig is a 19-year old man from Indianapolis. He was driving his 2012 Chevy Malibu in the Eastbound lanes of Madison County Road. It was about 12:30 in the afternoon on Saturday – July 18, 2020.
For some reason, McCraig pulled his car out in front of another vehicle that was heading South on Indiana-9. He ended up crashing into the other vehicle which was a 2005 Ford F-150. The man driving the pickup truck was 75-year old Harry Barker of Pendleton, Indiana.
The injuries suffered by McCraig were critical and he was airlifted to Methodist Hospital. The elderly man driving the Ford F-150 was also taken to the hospital. He was taken by ambulance to Hancock Regional Hospital with complaints of pains in both his chest and his knee.
There has been no update on the medical condition of either driver. The accident is still under investigation. There is no indication as to what caused McCraig to pull out directly in front of Barker’s truck. In cases like this, there will likely be a toxicology test performed on the driver at fault.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Barker may have a potential claim for damages. At the very least, he’ll have a claim against McCraig’s insurance policy.
