Whenever the police respond to an accident involving a semi-truck, they expect the worst. The average human being simply can’t withstand the impact of a tractor trailer crash. Sadly, this was the case this past weekend in Brownsburg, Indiana.
The police were called to the scene of an accident on State Road 267 on Saturday, September 26th. The crash happened at about 7:45 am. What they knew was that a minivan had struck a semi-truck and that there were serious injuries.
Apparently, a man driving a Chevy minivan was traveling on State Road 267 in the early morning of Saturday. For some reasons, he crossed the center line and drove directly into oncoming traffic. He then proceeded to strike a semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The name of the man driving the minivan was David Shelton – a 52-year old man from Brownsburg. His injuries were too serious to survive and he succumbed to them before the rescue crews arrived.
The name of the man driving the semi-truck has not yet been released. Nor has the name of the company he was working for. The authorities did confirm that the driver of the semi was not injured. There were no other passengers in the minivan. Thankfully, no other cars were involved in the crash and there were no other injuries.
The police are still investigating the crash. They do not know what could have caused the driver of the minivan to cross the centerline in the first place. There has been no statement released from the victim’s family. However, if they find that someone other than the driver caused him to lose control, they may have a claim for damages.
