Three people suffered serious injuries in a County Road 450 crash early on the morning of Thursday, April 15. The multi-vehicle accident was reported to the authorities at around 6:15 a.m.

According to the details shared by the Columbus Police Department, the accident involved three vehicles. These were identified as a 1995 Ford F150, a 2019 Honda Accord, and a 2001 Nissan Altima.

The Ford F150 was traveling eastbound along County Road 450. As it was close to the County Road 100W, the Ford sideswiped the Accord which was also headed in the same direction. The sideswipe caused the driver of the Ford to lose control, forcing the vehicle to come into the path of the oncoming traffic. This was when the Ford collided head-on with the Nissan Altima.

A single person was traveling in the Ford at the time of the accident. He was identified as Steven W. Beavers, 65, of Seymour. Beavers suffered serious injuries in the collision.

The driver of the Accord remained safe in the incident and had no notable injuries to report. He was identified by CPD as Douglas W. Meek, 50, of Hope.

The Nissan Altima had two occupants in it when it became involved in the head-on collision. Maria Hernandez, 39, of Columbus was driving the vehicle at the time. She was accompanied by a passenger identified as Mariela Ramos Gonzalez, 36, of Columbus. Both Hernandez and Gonzalez also sustained serious injuries.

Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the County Road 450 crash, the injured persons were airlifted to a medical facility in Indianapolis. All three remain under treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the incident. At this point, it is unclear what caused the crash.
