This afternoon, the police in Fort Wayne, Indiana were called to the scene after a 911 call. The caller reported that someone had been injured at a company called Custom Maintenance Solutions. The business apparently does repair and maintenance work on rails, tractor trailers and other machines.
When the police arrived at the scene, they learned that one of the workers had gotten trapped in a conveyor belt. They had been trapped there for some time before the cops arrived. The Fort Wayne Fire Department came and tried to extract the worker from the machine.
It took more than 2 hours for the rescue crews to get the man out of the machine. Sadly, after all this time, there was no way the workers could’ve survived their injuries. He was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the man to become caught in the conveyor belt in the first place. They didn’t mention that there was any sort of defect in the machine. Nor do they think the man was horsing around at the time of the accident.
The company is locally owned. There hasn’t been any comment or statement made by the owners of the company as of yet. The industrial site is located on the South side of Fort Wayne. It is located on a road called Wayne Trace in Fort Wayne. The call came into 911 at about 4 pm.
Depending on what happened here, the family of the victim may very well have a claim against the man’s employer, Custom Maintenance Solutions. They may also be able to pursue the manufacturer of the conveyor belt.
